About the SCHLARAFFEN
they define themselves as a special kind of society bound to the rules of the ancient europe, the etiquette of the old european knightage. they use to convene in costumes, wearing funny heats and colourful capes, in several groups. each group has its own name and emblem, the official animal/sign is the owl. their traditions appeal to the teutonic knights and are based on old fashioned german culture.

About the PUPPETS
after long research i decided how to build the puppets. i wanted them to have movable mouths for a better  expression, that's why they are made of latex . i formed the heads out of self hardening modelling material. after that i put on a lot of layers with liquid latex, and this was definetly the hardest part of modelling. it took me about two weeks until i had the raw shapes of the puppettheads. as you can see they all have their own charakter, especially susi is a parody of my self.

selfportraits, shot in a bathtube filled with milk and water with a nikon coolpix 9500 digital camera which has a series-mode that makes it possible to shoot a sequence of 16 shots onto one single photograph (in 4 rows) . it shows a harmonious and synchronized interplay between drum'n bass music and abstract photographs of several bodyparts, combined with fine effects...an unusual combination - extremly slow moving images with very fast beats. in the whole clip are nine different sequences used and every single shot is croped out of those 16-teen series pix.
this way of shooting makes it comfortable to capture the finley movments which are shown, when the different parts of the body move over and under the water surface. the original photographs are not manipulated, each images is shown only once during the whole clip.

an installation with objects which provoke desire, make the event visible, that show you your own perception. a haptic and visual interplay: two perspectives to explore... perception by physical sensation, by emotional impulse. conscious and unconscious perception. activation by key stimuli. i see, i associate, demand... curiosity, questions...explore. the moment from two different perspectives. the moment in which you can see what you feel at the same time than you are doing the action. the moment of the act perceived from outside is a totally different perspective than the emotional experience of it.

VISUALISATION
the TV-set is 90° rotated , so that it shows a portrait-format screen to support the phallic shape. it's placed on the floor somwhere next to betty, so that the "exploring" person can watch what happens on the screen while touching that thing inside.if somebody puts his hand into the box a live generated image appears on the TV-screen. otherwise there is no image beeing generated. it shows a black & white visualisation of what is happening inside the box under bettys back, which in real is completly dark inside.

in use: TV-set, vhs-recorder, motion detector, infrared surveillance camera and a very natural looking dildo. wooden box (completly dark, when closed).

what happens if you experience both of the perspectives at the same time? enlarge image.. feeling male genitals by touching a female body is an unexpected sensation. betty is made of plaster casts made from my own body. you can put your hand into the hole between her legsm which leads into a box. there is a motion detector inside the box, which activates the infrared surveillance camera. somewhere on the floor next to betty is a tv set, which shows the image filmed by the i-r-camera. inside the box is a dildo made of a plastic which feels very much like nature and therefore causes a surprise.
